Specialised Exhibitions, a subsidiary of Andry Montgomery, yesterday, Monday, 26 November 2007, announced the acquisition of B2B exhibition organisers Exhibitions for Africa (EFA). The addition of the EFA portfolio, which comprises shows such as Hostex, Markex, Securex and Computer Faire, will result in a group that runs over 40 events during a two-year period across the regions of Gauteng, KwaZulu-Natal, and the Western and Eastern Cape.
Under its new management, EFA will continue to trade under its own name, although as a division of Specialised Exhibitions.
Damion Angus, new business development director for Andry Montgomery, stated, “We already have a strong portfolio of events through Specialised Exhibitions and this further highlights our commitment to developing our business in South Africa.â€
John Kaplan, MD of Specialised Exhibitions, described the acquisition as “a great addition to our business…the reputation Exhibitions for Africa has developed as a leading exhibition organisation in South Africa is outstanding, and there is excellent synergy between both companies.â€
EFA has grown substantially since its management buy-out from Reed in 2001. The company now specialises in three main sectors –hospitality, retail and marketing; industrial, transport and security; and information and communications technology.
Sandy Angus, chairman of Andry Montgomery, said “Coupled to our majority shareholding in Expo Centre we are looking to take advantage of the opportunities which SA will offer in the run up to the world cup and beyond. We hope this will be a spring board for the launch of our major brands into the other parts of Africa which are beginning to benefit from their massive mineral and industrial wealth.â€
Embroidery is the process of sewing a digitized design onto garments.
Once we have your logo or design digitized in an embroidery software format, it can be loaded into our computerized embroidery machines for sewing.
Each product that comes off one of our machines is individually checked for compliance with our quality standards. Our goal is to ensure that your products are representative of our highest quality service every time.
| Embroidery creates an impression of quality & style. Excellent for polos, jackets, caps, knitwear etc. Embroidery will normally outlast any garment onto which it is applied. Recent advances in embroidery software mean that design /set up costs can be low and the new generation of embroidery machines run quickly with any number of colours being applied in a single operation. However large designs can be time consuming to produce & so costs can increase significantly relative to the size.PROS - long lasting, looks expensive, full colour at no extra cost. CONS – more expensive than printing, especially for large designs & not always suitable for very light materials. |
When you place an order for embroidered clothing there are two charges:
Embroidery Setup (aka Digitizing or Origination):
The first is an embroidery setup charge which covers the cost of having the design digitized and a jacquard created. This is a one off charge as once we have done this your design is stored and hence if you place an order in the future there will be no need to pay another setup charge.
Embroidery Per item:
The second embroidery charge is a ‘per item’ charge which applies to each item that is customised. This charge basically covers the cost of labour, materials and our other manufacturing overheads. The per item charge is directly based on the number of items to be embroidered with the same logo and the number of stitches:
T shirt printing, Screen printing, Transfers, Neck label printing
Shot in Cape Town, this prequel to Universal’s 2002 actioner “The Scorpion King” tells the back story of Mathayus (played in the first film by Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, who doesn’t appear in the sequel), depicting how he became a great warrior and eventually the Scorpion King. Russell Mulcahy (“Highlander”) directs the film, which is co-produced by David Wicht of Film Afrika.

Lava Ink has just finished some t shirts for the crew and they came out great. We used 180 gram crew-neck t shirts for the guys, which are 100% cotton (ideal for team wear because of its durability) The ladies got something a bit more fitted, the 220 gram crew neck 1×1 rib tops, which are also made of 100% cotton.
