CMYK Printing for fivefingers: by Lavaink

What in fact is CMYK printing you may ask? It is the process whereby pictures are formed by printing four colours namely C= Cyan (blue), M = Magenta ( Pinkish), Y=yellow and K= Black. As seen blow:

In the screen printing process these colours are separated from the image that needs printing and each becomes a positive for a screen:

These colours are then skillfully printed one on top of the other to form the full picture.

Lesson over!

Anyway, did a job for Vibram Fivefingers® in CMYK.

See Below:

Once again, excuse the ugly pics. Anyone has an old digital camera of 6 mega pixels or higher to chuck this way. Just kidding, I’m too lazy to recharge my batteries.

As a screen printer in Cape Town , I must say that we are happy to be getting our quota from our surrounding shorelines. No we do not catch fish! We have been getting work from the guys who do. Tuna Torque are the guys who will find you the “latest listings of new and used boats for sale. Ranging from sportsfish boat, cruisers, sailing boats, barges and even ships”.

The Job entailed a 13 colour print on the front as a pocket size as seen below:

The Back had to be the same but scaled up to fill the whole back as shown here:

Then we had to do 2 CMYK prints on either sleeve which came out stunning:

We ran about 2 days late, for the first time in history, but we had to make sure that these prints were flawless.

PS. Sorry for the poor quality pics (my Samsung black jack)

Well our organic finally here but they are flying. We started off with a thousand units and already somebody has snatched up 250 of them. Ever since our post at the beginning of the year “Here’s to an eco-friendly 2008!” , we’ve getting requests for these t shirts. I’m glad that we’ve gotten to this point and hopefully the demand will be great.T shirt designs by speak out shirts

Global Buddies

How do you reach out to a troubled kid? Or a troubled family?

You go to them.

A food market in China. Homes in South Africa. And soon, coming to a shopping mall near you, the UCLA Family Coaching Clinics.

It’s all part of an effort by UCLA’s Global Center for Children and Families (GCCF), which is committed to helping families and children achieve the highest level of well-being possible. Not just physical heath, but mental health too. And not just local families, but global ones. READ MORE
Did some work for Global Buddies and their t shirts looked great, see the video below.

Lava Ink, too hot to take pics!

We did a few t shirts for Altersage for their Cape Town Joomla! day, which came out great. Thanks for the link -love and if you have any pics of the t’s, please mail some because we never had time to take any, which was the case for the whole of December.

I must say that we achieved the impossible in our first December (2007) as Lava Ink . We had a couple of overnight deliveries, where some desperate clients gave us a brief the one day and we had to deliver the following day, which we did. This is something that you won’t find anywhere else and I must say big-ups to my team for making it happen (not saying we’ll do it again though).

Shot in Cape Town, this prequel to Universal’s 2002 actioner “The Scorpion King” tells the back story of Mathayus (played in the first film by Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, who doesn’t appear in the sequel), depicting how he became a great warrior and eventually the Scorpion King. Russell Mulcahy (“Highlander”) directs the film, which is co-produced by David Wicht of Film Afrika.

Lava Ink has just finished some t shirts for the crew and they came out great. We used 180 gram crew-neck t shirts for the guys, which are 100% cotton (ideal for team wear because of its durability) The ladies got something a bit more fitted, the 220 gram crew neck 1×1 rib tops, which are also made of 100% cotton.

Coty job

Originally uploaded by Lava Ink Cape Town call us on 021 674 3253 or 084 839 3371 for a printing quote on promotional items such as these .

Our client needed a special make-up on a promotional t shirt. The t shirt had to match the packaging of a perfume, that was to be launched in 10 days from when we first received the order. It was a really hectic but we made the delivery date even though we had to source the fabric, do the patterns and print the garment.
